After Secret Harbour: resisting the march of Australian fascism and One Nation

The result from the Secret Harbour by-election is a major warning. One Nation has scored a stunning victory in a seat Labor had held for decades, following a huge swing against Labor. The result shows just how quickly the political terrain can shift. The ALP took the area for granted, were incapable of mounting a serious campaign against One Nation and allowed a far right party to win. It’s an appalling precedent. It’s a result we need to take seriously — and organise against. It is also no surprise that this result came the same weekend as major fascist rallies took place across the country. Thousands of neo nazis and white supremacists took to our capital cities chanting racist slogans such as “Jews will not replace us.” There is a far right tide moving across this country and it needs to be challenged. Read our comrades’ analysis in Red Flag then come along to the Public Meeting.
